Xylene is an extremely volatile colorless liquid with transparent structure of two methyl (CH3) attached to a benzene ring (C6H6). Depending on the position of methyl component, it has three xylene isomers, neighbors xylene, m-xylene, and p-xylene. The above three plus ethyl benzene mixture called mixed xylene in industry field.

Mixed xylene can be used as solvent for coating and pesticide. It also can be used as raw materials to produce o-xylene (phthalic acid), xylene (isophthalic acid), p-xylene (terephthalic acid) and ethyl benzene (styrene).
